   Dr. Matthew Tobin grew up on the north shore of Long Island.  He received his bachelors degree in Biology from  Cornell University.  He then obtained his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.  While there he received regional and national awards for research on prostate cancer.  Dr. Tobin then received his General Surgery and Urology training at Harvard.  While in Boston he received local and national recognition for ground breaking research on urothelium, the specific cells that line the urinary tract.  He personally presented this research at a conference for the National Institute of Health (NIH).  During his time at Harvard Dr. Tobin completed a combined clinical and research fellowship in pediatric urology.


   At the completion of his training in 1996 Dr. Tobin moved to New Jersey to practice adult and pediatric urology.  He founded Atlantic Coast Urology with his longtime partner Dr. Charles Bellingham.


   Dr. Tobin is the Chairman of Urology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.  He has served multiple prior roles at the hospital, including Chief of Pediatric Urology and Director of Urologic Oncology.  He was instrumental in the development of a urology resident program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
